TITAN Greece supports local communities during the Covid-19 lockdown

Across its operations, TITAN Greece supported local communities near our facilities in a variety of ways during the Covid-19 lockdown.

We assisted more than 100 vulnerable families with food supplies and drinking water. We also donated more than 1,000 protective masks, 3,500 single-use gloves, 50 safety glasses and 25 Tyvek protective garments to public institutions, including hospitals, social structures and police departments.

In addition, we raised more than 50 units of blood for public blood banks.

Our company also provided more than 600kg of food for stray animals and donated 12m3 of concrete to construct a Covid-19 test building.

More specifically, our plants took the following actions:

Elefsina plant

  • Employees voluntarily donated blood to Thriasio Hospital blood bank (which is the closest to the plant) to meet its increased needs.
  • The plant’s water-spraying vehicle was lent to Elefsina Municipality to disinfect public roads with a chlorine solution.
  • The plant’s loader truck was lent to Elefsina Municipality for use at the local recyclable materials sorting center (KDAY), which was low in staff numbers due to the Covid lockdown.
  • A quantity of bottled water was donated to Elefsina Municipality for people with no access to drinking water.
  • Food supplies were donated to local churches and charities to boost their daily free meal programs.
  • As the staff dinner to mark Easter could not be held, the budget allocated to it was used to buy supermarket gift vouchers for poor local families, which were distributed with with the help of Elefsina Volunteers’ Association.

Kamari plant

  • Food was provided to 36 families in Dervenochoria village (the populated area closest to the plant), which were selected using financial and social criteria.
  • Three computers were lent to Dervenochoria lyceum to support online learning.
  • Medical materials – 350 FFP2 protective masks and 1,000 single-use gloves – were donated to the Elefsina Police Department, Elefsina Security Department and Elefsina Traffic Police.
  • Medical material was donated to the national ambulance service (EKAB).

Patras plant

  • Employees voluntarily donated blood to the plant’s blood bank to meet the increased need.
  • Food supplies were provided to 19 poor families.
  • 20 tons of firewood was distributed to local communities
  • 600kg of feed for stray animals was presented to Patras Municipality.
  • The plant’s social worker provided telephone support to people facing psychological problems due to the lockdown.
  • The plant’s IT technician offered technical support to families on a range of issues, including Wi-Fi connection problems and paying bills online.
  • 6 computers were provided to local schools to support online teaching.
  • 10 safety glasses were donated to the local Police Department.
  • 50 protective masks were donated to the local hospital.
  • 500 single-use gloves, 25 safety glasses and 25 Tyvek protective garments were donated the national ambulance service (EKAB).

Thessaloniki plant

  • 500 protective masks and 1,000 single-use gloves were donated to Papanikolaou General Hospital.
  • 100 protective masks, 1,000 single-use gloves and 50 safety glasses were donated to Kastoria General Hospital.
  • 50 protective masks were donated to a local nursing home.
  • Food supplies were donated to local churches and charities to boost their daily free meal programs.

Interbeton

  • 12m3 of concrete was donated to Kos General Hospital to construct a Covid-19 test building.
