NEW PRODUCTION UNIT AT THE TITAN PENNSUCO PLANT IN THE US 

On 18th May 2005 the new production unit was officially opened at the TITAN Pennsuco plant in Florida.

In their remarks at the official opening representatives of the state government stressed the significant impact of such a modern plant on the Florida construction market. The President of Titan Florida Business, Hardy Johnson, described the Pennsuco plant as one of the largest and most up-to-date cement production facilities in the whole country, equipped with the most efficient environmental protection and emission prevention systems to be found at any facility in the sector anywhere in the USA.

More than $ 200m were invested in completing the new unit, which will have an annual production capacity of 1.8m tons. Titan America’s broad range of activities includes cement and concrete production, quarrying, cement distribution, production of fly ash and cement blocks.

The Company’s head offices are located in Norfolk, Virginia, and it employs a workforce of more than 1,800.

During the opening ceremony Titan America presented a cheque for $ 700,000 as a contribution to the “Step Up for Students” programme, which offers more than 11,000 young people of limited financial means the chance to study at private or regional schools.
